Gwella Contracting Services were delighted in being awarded another contract with VIVO Defence securing the technical Chromate dust removal and thorough cleaning works to the shot blasting facility located within one of the main hangars at RAF Linton-on-Ouse.

Chromate dust and residue had been located throughout the shot blasting facility, on all internal surfaces, also being present within the raised floor.

Using a methodical and safe system of works, our site team successfully completed the removal of all identified chromate materials under controlled conditions.

Due to the health hazards associated with the Chromium, carefully constructed enclosures were used during the removal process and placed under negative pressure, with airlock and baglock systems being used to ensure the chromate dust was contained within the constructed area of demarcation.

To ensure sufficient observation of all working areas from outside the enclosures, a CCTV system was installed, allowing our client and third parties to review our progress and validate our work.

This 2-week project was completed on time and on budget to the delight of VIVO Defence and their MoD client.

Looking good! Pleased with the progress and great standard of works. The site team worked hard to achieve the cleanliness within the shot blast facility. WELL DONE!
