Certified Fire Door Installation & Maintenance
Gwella Contracting’s Fire Door team have been certified to BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Installation & Maintenance standards.
The BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door scheme has been designed to provide reassurance to specifiers, contractors and end users that the product they have chosen has been maintained correctly and that it should perform as intended.
The Q-Mark Fire Door scheme is based on training an individual who takes responsibility for the training and work carried out by a number of operatives. The scheme is designed to ensure that fire doorsets are being installed and maintained correctly, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions or appropriate guidelines.
What the BM TRADA Q-Mark aims to achieve
- Raise the on-going standard of installation and maintenance of fire doors
- Ensure the product’s fire resistance capabilities are maintained
- Ensure the product’s service life is maximised through correct installation and maintenance
- Provide peace of mind that the installer and maintainer is suitably qualified and that their work is continually assessed by an independent body
- Provide specifiers with the means to demonstrate that the installation and maintenance meets the required standards
Fire Door Installation

As an approved fire door installer, certified by the industry’s leading body, BM TRADA, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards in fire safety.
Our certification ensures that each fire door is installed by a fully qualified fitter. While fire doors are designed to resist the spread of fire for 30 or 60 minutes (FD30/FD60), improper installation can significantly reduce their effectiveness, putting lives and property at risk.
At Gwella Contracting, we provide a certification for each installation, offering peace of mind that your fire door has been fitted correctly and will perform as required. Maintenance coverage varies according to the manufacturer, with product warranties differing in length. The majority of our fire door products come from one of the country’s leading suppliers, Forza Doors.
Fire Door Maintenance
Did you know that fire doors should undergo regular inspections? In fact, the more frequently they are used, the more often they should be checked.
If fire doors aren’t maintained in proper working condition with a consistent and appropriate upkeep plan, the safety and security of the building and its occupants can be severely compromised. It is the responsibility of the building owner, employer, or occupier to ensure the maintenance routine is followed correctly.
This maintenance includes a combination of visual inspections, mechanical tests, cleaning, and lubrication. We advise that any damaged parts are replaced immediately with identical products to preserve the door’s performance and uphold its fire certification.
For the safety of a building’s occupants, all fire safety hardware MUST be checked in line with the procedures set out in the “Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997” or the “Fire Precautions (Workplace) Amendment Regulations 1999“.
