Safety & Wellbeing
Safety Always is our initiative to create a positive culture towards safety in the way we behave and act, ensuring safe working environments for our employees and others. It is at the forefront of everything we do, from driving our vehicles to our place of work and arriving home safely, we encourage positive communication between our staff, ensuring it flows both ways and we listen to concerns and suggestions.
How do we do this?
All new employees undergo a Safety Always induction prior to starting work on our sites, this provides us with an opportunity to provide them with the information needed to carry out their work safely.
Employees undergo training on our online H&S management system, which covers:
- Auditing
- Incident and accident reporting
- Competence
- Training needs
- Near miss reporting
Our managers are able to prioritise tasks and make the right decisions enabling the projects to run smoothly, whilst ensuring safety is a priority.
Monitoring
Safety monitoring is an important element of our safety management system and is carried out to assist with the improvement of overall safety performance.
Monitoring of safety is carried out in a number of ways such as:
- Site audits – checks and inspections of the workplace, equipment and plant
- Health Surveillance
- Investigation accidents and incidents
- Near miss reporting

Information gained from our various monitoring activities are reviewed on a monthly basis and our employees are consulted via monthly Safety Always meetings, where we have an open, transparent forum to discuss safety topics.
All incidents and accidents, including near misses form an integral part of our monitoring process, this enables us to identify why these have happened and what improvements and additional measures are needed to prevent reoccurrence.
Health and Wellbeing
Health Surveillance
Health surveillance forms a crucial part of our monitoring process, we ensure we have a specific program identifying the needs of our workforce. Working with hazardous materials such as asbestos, requires us to monitor the health of our employees and keep health records.
In addition to monitoring for respiratory risks, it is also vitally important we monitor others factors, such as; Hand Arm Vibration, Drugs and Alcohol, Musculoskeletal Disorders and Exposure Limits.
We take the physical and mental health of our employees and colleagues very seriously, that’s why we are delighted to be part of Mates in Mind.
Mates in Mind is a registered UK charity, aiming to raise awareness, address the stigma of poor mental health and promote positive mental wellbeing across workplaces.
We are delighted to be taking part in such an important social programme that opens-up dialogue for all those involved. Poor mental health and depression have always had a stigma attached, and by committing to a programme which helps to make it easier to talk about, we hope that we can help any of our team mates share and overcome their problems. As part of our HR review process, we encourage team members to openly discuss their issues, both within work and on a personal level. Our team are what makes our company great, so if we can help them to grow stronger, we all grow stronger.
