Thermal Insulation

We undertake all types of thermal insulation works, across Southern England, for a wide client base. Our operatives are fully-trained with experience working in a range of sectors, such as; Healthcare, Education, MOD, Utilities, Retail, Marine and Construction.

The most efficient and safe operation of plumbing and mechanical services relies upon suitable and sufficient thermal and acoustic insulation to adequately reduce heat loss, prevent condensation and attenuate operating noise of the applicable service.

Thermal insulation is used on a wide range of heating and ventilation systems, from air conditioning systems through to heating ductwork, steam and hot water services, low temperature or chilled water services.

Poorly insulated systems waste energy and operate inefficiently; costing you money and potentially introducing health and safety risks into your premises such as burns and scalds or slips and trips from dripping condensate. Properly insulated plant will reduce ambient temperatures in plantrooms too, removing or reducing heat stress problems.

Our trained and qualified engineers, working predominantly throughout Cornwall & Devon, but also across Southern England, provide a heating insulation and ductwork cladding service within industrial and commercial premises, reducing heat-loss from new and existing services and HVAC systems.

Gwella’s Insulation Division is vastly experienced and we field a team of qualified Thermal Insulation Engineers and Managers capable of tackling the most challenging of projects. We believe in investing in our workforce and have recently appointed two Apprentice engineers to ensure that our teams are passing their huge knowledge on and helping to ensure that our qualified workforce continues to grow.

We work very closely with our clients ensuring that we provide market leading materials, whilst ensuring these meet all specifications and requirements.

Recent projects range from schools and hospitals to large factories and engineering workshops to smaller boiler rooms and domestic installations in blocks of flats.

Whether we are installing HVAC sections, duct wrap or duct slab, different environments also require different cladding and finishing to protect the finished installation.

We offer a wide range of finishes to suit the environment, such as:

  • Aluminum, stainless steel, aluzinc and plastisol sheet cladding
  • Isogenopak, Venture clad and Polyisobutylene (PIB) finishing
  • Foil-faced finish

Our experienced and qualified operatives take enormous pride in their work and we are confident that our cladding and finishing is second to none.

We can also offer bespoke insulating jackets to ensure insulation is maintained around valves, flanges and fittings which otherwise are difficult to lag. Industry standard identification bands and labels are supplied and installed to ensure all services are clearly distinguishable.

Specialists in Marine Thermal Insulation

Having worked within the marine sector for many years we have a full understanding of all the different types of insulation required when vessels are undergoing full refits or simply requiring maintenance repair work.

We undertake work within the commercial marine industry, along with providing high class finishes on superyachts utilising bespoke cladding finishes, such as stainless steel.

Engine rooms and machinery spaces on-board vessels are often cramped, hot, uncomfortable places to work; the installation of suitable insulation on ships services helps to reduce ambient temperatures in those compartments, improving working conditions and preventing scalds and burns while simultaneously increasing the operating efficiency of the ship’s systems.

Correctly installed and certified insulation is of huge importance on marine vessels which are obligated to conform to strict Class requirements; this is critical when it comes to preventing the spread of fire on-board. Our Engineers have years of experience in working on-board many varied vessels, even sailing with them to ensure that works are undertaken without compromising the vessel’s continued operation.

Whether we are insulating chilled water services, enormous engine uptakes or applying fire protection to deckheads and bulkheads the insulation requires protecting from impact, abrasion or fluids; our highly skilled workforce will apply the appropriate cladding system to protect the installation, complete with valve and flange jackets and all required identification labels. We can also offer bespoke cladding solutions for unique projects.

The ability to lag and clad services on-board vessels is a distinctly different skill set to working in buildings and we are immensely proud of the skills we have developed and projects that we have completed from commercial fishing boats, to ferries, cruise liners and even MOD vessels.
