After a recent fire at Treliske Hospital in Truro, Cornwall, Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust asked Gwella Contracting’s Specialist Cleaning Division to help to clean-up the damage.

The fire occurred in a small side room off an occupied ward in Treliske’s Tower Block. Despite the quick discovery and extinguishing of the fire, there was a lot of residual soot which required one of our experienced cleaning teams to manage.

With the adjoining ward being fully functional, we had to obviously ensure that soot migration and the smell of our cleaning chemicals was kept away from the patients just behind the side room door. Coronavirus precautions were also strictly adhered to whilst transiting through the hospital to and from the site.

The work was completed to the satisfaction of the RCHT Estates Department within a day (a long one!) with some lovely comments from the nurses on what a great job we’d done.
