Gwella Contracting were appointed by Amey Defence Services to undertake the safe removal of asbestos to various buildings and plantrooms at RNAS Yeovilton, the home to the Royal Navy Wildcat Force and the Commando Helicopter Force.

Gwella’s thermal insulation and building divisions would then follow on from the completion of the asbestos works undertaking all specialist reinstatement works.

Following successful upfront planning with the client, Gwella worked systematically from one building to another across the large MOD base over a three-month period, ensuring that disruption was kept to a minimum whilst delivering a high standard of asbestos removal and reinstatement finishes, such as fresh fire rated suspended ceilings with new LED lighting to all internal buildings.

Stonewool insulation with Isogenopak cladding wad applied to piped services with valves, flanges and associated fittings insulated with bespoke thermal covers. The Calorifiers were insulated using Stonewool flexible wrap and clad with Stucco Aluminium sheet.

Continuous on-site improvement, operational competency across all ‘Gwella’ works which included a shared vision with the client resulted in a job well done.

“As delivery manager for these works it was a pleasure working with the Gwella team who provided a trouble-free service delivering the project bang on schedule and to a high quality.”
