Gwella Contracting have recently completed a successful and technical asbestos sprayed coating removal to the underside of various link bridges which connect the existing accommodation blocks at HMS Raleigh, Torpoint.
HMS Raleigh is the largest Royal Navy training establishment in the South West. It’s made up of a 239-acre main site and a maritime training centre on the River Lynher. On a typical day there are around 2,200 people on site.
The main challenge was working around the live training establishment before troops went on summer leave. Working closely with Principal Contractor ‘Obedair’ and main client ‘Amey Defence’, a well thought-out project delivery programme was designed where all stakeholders successfully communicated and worked around the challenging environment to deliver back to the client on time without any disruption to the camp’s operations.
It was very rewarding to receive some very positive feedback from Obedair’s Senior Site Manager, Liam, on completion of the project.
